Beauty: Autumnal Nail Polishes

Autumnal nail polishes worth falling for
Autumn is officially here and whilst we all say a sad farewell to iced lattes, beach days and BBQs it’s time to embrace the new seasons and it’s rich, glamorous colours and what better way to do so then revamping your nail polish collection? Say goodbye to pastels, neon and brights and give a warm welcome to lavish metallics, twinkling shades and rich hues.

  1.  Autumn by Zoya, £10.50, Nothing screams Autumn quite like a rich shade of orange reminiscent of those falling leaves. The clue is in the name with one, Autumn is the perfect shade to brighten up those grey skies and put you in the mood for pumpkin pie and warm cider
  2.  All Hail The Queen by Butter London, £12, If you think brown is boring think again, this light brown colour is ideal if you want your nails to appear groomed and neat whilst the glittering undertone offers a slight sparkle
  3. Kiss Me Or Elf by O.P.I, £11.95, Part of the Gwen Stefani range this lustrous pink lacquer looks like a firework in a bottle; bold, pretty and shimmering it’s the ultimate party colour
  4. Midnight Cami by Essie, £7.99, A lush blue nail polish suits against every complexion and this deep shade by Essie has a slight metallic look perfect for that work to bar transition
  5.  Racing Green by Barry M, £2.99, Deep green looks wonderfully chic against pale skin, keep the nails short and sweet for a more elegant look and make sure you are careful when applying as dark polishes are harder to remove from the skin
  6.  Liquorice All Sorts by Models Own, £4.99, Everybody needs a black bottle in their nail collection and not only is this under £5 but it’s part of Models Own Sweet Shop collection meaning it smells just like Liquorice All Sorts!
  7. Jungle Red by NARS, £15, Another ultimate Autumnal shade is a classic red, this pillar-box shade from NARS also features UV protection to prevent discoloration.
  8. Easy Peasy by Topshop, £6, A cool grey shade is just the colour as a step from Autumn into Winter, this divine matte shade is bang on trend and will look fabulous on either short, long, stiletto or manicured nails
Check this out on The Upcoming too!

Life: Update

My laptop decided to die on me!
I was without it for about six weeks, oh the torture. I haven't been able to write, in any way, nor have I been able to download new music or catch up on TV! Lost without this beauty.
It turns out the motherboard was knackered but it is all fixed now, thanks to Papa Vierke. Having said that the battery is on it's way out too!! Brilliant.

Anyway, I feel like I've been super busy throughout September and October, I didn't manage to do my round up for September or anything! Now it's November!

Anyway I'll be back on track now, new music, news etc all coming soon

Fashion: Work Uniform August '14 - October '14

I have selected my uniform for the next sector but I have also added in a few bits and pieces I bought with my discount that I can wear to work.

That little baseball style top on the end is actually from our 'Kidswear' range! From the boys department would you believe?

Life: September Loves

  1. Volcom Jumper, £63, This just popped on my internet search and I love it! With skinnies and boots or trainers it will be perfect
  2. Butter Nail Polish, £12, Dark green is making such an appearance at the moment and I think it's an awesome colour for Autumn, I'll definitely be investing a nail polish of this colour and this shade seems perfect
  3. Nike Roshe Run, £72, I've always been a fan of Nike and Roshe's seem to the style I always pick, I would love a pair of trainers but I always end up spending the money on something else!
  4. Model Co Lip Enhancer, £16, I got this free with Glamour a few months ago and it's barely a pencil anymore! It's the best lip enhancer/liner EVER. Kylie Jenner eat ya heart out
  5. River Island Acid Wash Tube Pants, £35, I have these already in black and I love them. This acid wash pair are super cool and I can't wait to mix things up a bit.

  7. ASOS 'Headhunter' Heels, £40, I spotted these a few weeks ago and I love them but I can imagine they would be impossible to walk in! ASOS have amazing shoes on their site at the moment
  8. George Faux Leather Jacket, £30, I bought a H&M pleather jacket a few months back but it has silver fastenings so I would love one that I can wear with gold jewelry and accessories too.
  9. River Island Scarf, £18, We have this at work and it is ridiculously warm and soft! I may need to purchase it.
  10. USC Sunglasses, £5, Why don't people sell sunglasses all year round? It's still super sunny in Autumn and Winter. I currently have aviator and cat eye style sunglasses but I think the wayfarer style are key

Life: August 2014 Round Up

  1. August has been such a good month! Yay, much busier then July that is for sure.
  2. Well it was my birthday on 17th and my manager Charlotte's birthday the day before so we went out on 16th and it was SO MUCH FUN. I went out with loads of people from work and it was one of the best nights out I'd had in a while. I love getting ready and dressed up and the girls at work do too, love that!
  3. I went out the weekend after with some of my family for a meal at an Italian which was delicious!
  4. I do feel the need to add that I ordered over £75 worth of dresses from Missguided at 1am on Friday morning and selected Next Day Delivery and I didn't receive them till MONDAY. I wanted to wear one of the dresses for my birthday I was let down that they didn't turn up! Just a heads up to you all!
  5. The same weekend me and Mitch went to Warner Bros Harry Potter Tour in London and it was phenomenal! The Harry Potter series, both book and film, have inspired me and played such an important part in my life it was amazing to see the sets, props and costume in real life. I was ever so slightly overwhelmed.
  6. I spent far too much money and bought a Howarts throw, Luna Lovegood's wand, chocolate frog and Bertie Blotts every flavour beans!
  7. I didn't manage to attend Reading Festival, I was so gutted I didn't get to see Blink 182 that I can't even watch videos on Youtube! But I couldn't get the time off work. So upset about that :( I just hope they tour again but at least somebody else got to go in my place
  8. Me and Mitch watched Maleficent which we didn't think was that great, we also went to Frankie and Bennys for food as I'm always going on about it
  9. I was back at work but sadly it was my managers last week :'( so gutted that she left! I think it can be tricky to find a manager/boss that you get on really well with and I found Charlotte a fab manager
  10. We all went out again in Kingston for her leaving do, it was a bit chaotic and we were running extremely late but we all made it out in the end
  11. Although Char has gone now, Great British Bake Off is back and she loves it as much as I do so we chat about that! Already have favs (Richard ;))
  12. I received some awesome presents for my birthday; Mitch bought me my Reading ticket which was later sold so technically he got my the Harry Potter goodies as well as tickets to see All Time Low (YES SO EXCITED) and a super pretty Pandora charm, special edition Ariel piece. My sisters bought me Vera Wang Princess perfume as well as this super cool silhouette poster from The Goonies, my dad and his girlf are giving me dollars for America in November, my friend Keyla bought me a gorgeous gold ring with my birthstone (Peridot) and everybody at work bought me a coat from work I have been eyeing up!
  13. We also have uniform at work so I'll upload a post on that sometime soon once I have selected it all, it's tricky because it's still warm but I know it's definitely going to get chilly soon!
  14. Sadly I must mention August we lost many icons, I was most saddened by the passing of Robin Williams and if you ever have the chance PLEASE watch Good Will Hunting. Your move chief.

Well now it's the end of Summer although tbh it's still pretty warm! Are you ready for Autumn?

Life: July 2014 Round Up

  1. July has definitely been quite a chilled month, I haven't done that much compared to May and June.
  2. We've been super busy at work as the Summer SALE is in full swing. I worked 10am-11pm on launch night, as knackered as I was I had a great team and we laughed a lot!
  3. I headed to Comic Con with Mitch at the beginning of the month we went last year and loved it, I think it will be annual thing from now on
  4. The comic book legend Stan Lee was there, we checked out the talk with him as well as a Games of Thrones talk. So many people dressed up and it was lovely weather-although my sandal broke whilst we were walking around!
  5. I went to the dentist, certainly less fun, for more fillings. To be honest they weren't any better, actually worse with the work done. Hopefully it'll improve
  6. I have started reading The Rise of Nine, which is the third book in the Lorien Legacies, I'm struggling to get into it as much as I did with I Am Number Four and The power Of Six- hoping that it picks up though
  7. I did a bit of shopping, headed over to Westfield. I bought two tops, a pair of tube pants, heeled sandals and a snapback-FINALLY.
  8. I have also become seriously hooked on the Kim Kardashian Hollywood App! This is why I haven't done anything, too busy playing that! You should check it out, it's fun-but be warned it's very addictive!
  9. I've started my fictional writing again, I have struggled to find the time in the past year but at one stage it was all I did so I'm trying my best to squeeze some in everyday-if I can

August is up next and it's my birthday. I think I'll be going out on 16th, Harry Potter Tour on 23rd and (possibly) Reading Festival on 24th!

Life: June 2014 Round Up

  1. I went out for dinner with my friend Hannah at the start of June, she's just moved back to London from York and so hopefully I'll be seeing more of her. It was a great catch up and Pizza Express is always a good idea
  2. I went out for lunch with my sister and my dad too which was nice, we went to the local golf club as they have a restaurant that overlooks the river so that was fun, it had been lovely weather too
  3. Of course it was the world cup! Myself and my sister, who I live with, were proper into it! I was so psyched about the England matches but my enthusiasm rapidly disappeared! We ordered pizza and had beers for the first match
  4. I had a week off and was originally supposed to be going on holiday with my friend Maisy but our plans fell through which is disappointing as I was really excited! It did mean I was able to have my hair done and see a few more people
  5. I went out with Hannah and her mate Briony for the first weekend off and it was a bit of a disaster, Hannah was hungover and tired from the night before and so I proceeded to get paralytic and threw up in the bar toilet. Keeping it classy.
  6. Myself and Maisy went to Kingston for a bit of shopping and also ate at TGI Fridays, we had nachos, burgers, chips and cocktails. It was so delicious but I was ridiculously full
  7. I then went out in London with Kabya for dinner at an insanely posh restaurant in Leicester Square, I left my shopping in the restaurant though and had to trek back the next day and got stuck in London and nearly missed my hair appointment!
  8. Although I was two hours late for my haircut (!!) they were so lovely and still managed to cut it and dye it, it took three hours but I left with exactly the style I was after. Ombre waves with a shaved side :D
  9. I went to Devon to see Mitch the last weekend of my time off, he attempted to teach me to skate which is as hilarious as you can imagine. It rained during the day but was still warm which is good
  10. I read the Maze Runner too, in the space of about four days, I wasn't so sure about the main lead but it was definitely a gripping book and would recommend it to those who an adventure novel
  11. June was an awesome time for music too, Ed Sheeran released his 2nd album- you can read the review here, and 5 Seconds of Summer FINALLY released their debut album, review of that one here
  12. On a sadder note it was my Granddads funeral, my mum did a speech which was incredibly brave of her. I hadn't seen him for some time but I remember him living with us when I was a teenager

I have another week off in July as well as Comic Con, SALE launch at work and the dentist. Eeeeek.

Music: '5 Seconds of Summer' Album Review

Who: 5 Seconds of Summer
What: 5 Seconds of Summer
Favourite Songs: Lost Boy, English Love Affair, Green Light, End Up Here

I have reviewed 5 Seconds of Summer live twice (you can read those here and here) therefore I listened to this album having already seen over half of the songs being performed live and I think that hindered my experience.
While there is not denying how hard the four guys worked on the album, the famous names they worked with (Madden Brothers of Good Charlotte, Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low) and the serious talent that quite clearly have I felt that the album lacked the 5 Seconds of Summer rawness I was expecting.
Whether it is because I'm used to low-quality covers on YouTube or because they cite Blink 182, Greenday and All Time Low as their inspirations, the debut 5 Seconds of Summer album felt a tad over-produced.
Amnesia was a favourite of mine when I saw it performed live, the lyrics when sung by the guys felt painfully real "It's like we never happened/Was it just a lie?/If what we had was real/How could you be fine?/'Cause I'm not fine at all." But the album version felt a little constricted with Ashton's drumming nearly removed and Luke's voice barely recognizable. The same can be said for Voodoo Doll and Good Girls, with too much added auto-tune, over done harmonies and backing vocals used when a much needed guitar solo or the boys simple singing would have had a much more powerful effect.
Don't get me wrong, I love the songs and I'm glad I can listen to them minus girls screaming but I miss Calum extending certain words (perfection in Lost Boy) or Michael screaming (Good Girls improv anybody?)
If I had only heard She Looks So Perfect and Don't Stop the album would be a pleasant surprise, a mix of guitar based pop hits such as Good Girls, Kiss Me Kiss Me and heart-swooning ballads like Amnesia, Everything I Didn't Say and Never Be. But the boys can do better.
Nonetheless, some tracks are catchy, fun and offer the cheeky 5 Seconds of Summer I expected, English Love Affair provides suggestive lyrics such as "Next thing we were back at her place/A hideaway in Mayfair/All the great and good there/ Drinking all the way to third base." With Lost Boy and Green Light the most similar to the live versions and End Up Here a potential chart topper.
Not quite proving their haters wrong, 5 Seconds of Summer may have come a long way but
they still have a long way to go.

The talent is most certainly there but 5 Seconds of Summer need to ensure they don't lose their way in order to sell records.

Check out the tracklisting here. I downloaded all possible tracks.

Music: 'X' Album Review

Who: Ed Sheeran
What: x (Multiply)
Favourite Songs: (All of them?!) Photograph, Even My Dad Does Sometimes, Don't, Thinking Out Loud, I'm A Mess

After the wild success of his first album '+' back in 2011 the Suffolk born 23 year old had a great to live up to; he did not disappoint. Already the fastest selling album of 2014, 'x' is a captivating return from Sheeran, with input from Pharrell, Gary Lightbody and Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol you are provided with a record full of 16 could-be singles. No mean feat.
In classic Ed Sheeran style an acoustic guitar and bold lyrics are the foundation for many of the songs with great production, a dash of rapping and a mash up of instruments producing a raw, honest album.
There are three different types of song styles on 'x' and although Sheeran fleets from rapping (Take It Back) to some serious crooning (Thinking Out Loud) and classic guy with a guitar (I'm A Mess) the theme remains the same; write what you know.
The first single of the album Sing is reminiscent of Justin Timberlake circa 2002, with Runaway and Don't offering a similar style, a quicker beat then most and slightly more light-hearted then some of the other tracks. It also offers a link to another genre covered by Sheeran; rap. The Man, Sing, Nina and Take It Back certainly have a Mike Skinner vibe to them, with The Man sounding very much like it has come straight off Original Pirate Material
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Even My Dad Does Sometimes, Alfire Love and Photograph will pull at the heart-strings of anybody who gives them a listen, with lyrics from Photograph stating "Where our eyes are never closing/Hearts are never broken/And time's forever frozen still." It's worth checking out the background and the story behind Sheeran's songs it will simply make you love them (and him) even more.
Heartbreak and love songs also make an appearance and come in the form of Tenerife Sea, Thinking Out Loud, I'm A Mess and One. All equally as relatable as they are poignant, Sheeran masters the art of despair and what it feels like to truly love, how many people can relate to? "I'm a mess right now/Inside Out/Searching for a sweet surrender/But this is not the end." Once again, Sheeran's music will engage, enthrall and excite.
Dare I say it? This album is faultless.

Writing from experience is why Ed Sheeran shines so bright, he manages to turn an emotion you feel and the thoughts in your head into lyrics with the perfect melody to match.

Check out the tracklisting here. I downloaded all possible tracks.

Fashion: Work Uniform May '14 -July '14

It's that time of year again, time for me to select my uniform. I really struggled this time around as I couldn't find anything I loved besides the ripped 'Amelie' jeans.

As always you can purchase any of the below from the River Island website and the dress, tunic and top all come in numerous prints and colous! I also bought another set of finger top rings as I still love them.

Life: May 2014 Round Up

It is OFFICIALLY SUMMER! Yaya. I am so excited for Summer, it better be good!
To be so far 2014 has been the best in a while, check out how my May went :D

  1. So it was Mitch's birthday at the end of April and I wrote about this in my other post but technically I went down in May!
  2. I like Devon, it's a quiet little place and Mitch has the cutest dog called Diesel he's not exactly small but he's so playful.
  3. I also had a week off mid May and Mitch came to visit, twice in one month, so unlike us.
  4. We went into Richmond for a day because it was so sunny! We had a wander around, walk down by the river and bought cupcakes from Hummingbird Bakery-so delicious!
  5. We headed into Kingston too for some shopping and we also checked out Five Guys as everybody has been going on about it, the food was OK but the fizzy drinks were INSANE. Like 500 flavours or something absurd.
  6. We also watched Godzilla and The Amazing Spiderman at the cinema, both were awesome!
  7. For the weekend of my holiday I headed up to Glasgow with Kabya and her friend Nicole (who is so sweet) for Radio 1's Big Weekend and it was AWESOME!
  8. I endured a nine hour coach journey from London to Glasgow and when I finally reached Scotland (never been before!) the road that the hotel I was staying in was closed off due to a fire! After a rather long walk around with my suitcase, chats with many policeman I reached my hotel- nobody was hurt BTW
  9. The next day we started queuing at nine and was let into the arena eleven then had to wait till one for the first act- One Direction FYI :)
  10. The night was AMAZING. I am so thankful of Kabya for grabbing us some free tickets, I managed to tick off so many bands/artists I've wanted to see live and there were even some surprise awesomeness.
  11. I managed to see One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Jake Bugg, Pharrell, Lily Allen, Lorde, Calvin Harris and Coldplay. For me Jake Bugg and Lily Allen weren't so great, I didn't enjoy them so much (sorry!) But Coldplay were up their with the best live bands EVER. I'm glad I finally got to see One Direction and Ed Sheeran was awesome as was Calvin Harris' DJ set.
  12. When I came back I headed over to the dentist and discovered I need eight fillings and possible root canal treatment-awesome. I do eat a ridiculous amount of sweets, so that's finally catching up with me. It'll a ridiculous of money too so no new hair for me!
I have another week booked off in June and I'm hoping to go abroad with my friend Maisy :) Although we are yet to book a holiday.....What are your summer plans?

  6. New Look Crop Top, £9.99,

Life: April 2014 Round Up

I need to get back on the blogging scene, I've been busy on most of my days off so haven't had a chance to write up some posts which is frustrating but I'm going to be back on form this month.

  1. It was my dads 60th birthday and we celebrated by having a big ole' party! It was so much fun! The theme was song titles and I dressed up as a Peacock
  2. The next day, however, it was my cousins funeral. It was a sad day, made that much worse by all the children that were in attendance.
  3. One of my best friends Hannah has moved back to London which is fab and we went to Brighton on one of my days off. It was great fun, we had the most delicious ice cream from Gelato Gusto.
  4. It was Mitch's birthday at the end of April so I headed down to Devon to see him, we went into Exeter and I had my nose pierced again (double for me) and Mitch had his done too! I bought him tickets to London Film and Comic Con, some clothes, notepad and pen and Marvel Monopoly.
  5. We also went to Giraffe, our new favourite eating place! I had risotto Apple Martini and Mitch has mango and chicken salad with Strawberry Smash cocktail. Was SO GOOD.
  6. I spent about half an hour (I have such a bad attention span) on a day off teaching myself guitar, I can officially play the odd chord! Wahey! Switching from chord to chord, however, is a different story....
  7. Talking of music my friend Kabya (the infamous gig buddy) managed to snag a couple of tickets to Radio 1's Big Weekend in Glasgow and is giving me one! SO PSYCHED. It's for the Saturday so we get to see One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. So exciting :D

I have a week off in May just before Radio 1's Big Weekend but I don't get paid before which is frustrating but I think I'll have my hair done at some point. Ombre here I come....

Life: March Round Up

I'ts nearly the end of April and I completely forgot about this round up! Woops!

  1. Well I went to go and see 5 Seconds of Summer for the 2nd time with my friend Kabya at Shepherds Bush Empire, you can read my review or that gig here. It was an awesome gig and one of the best nights out I've ever had! We didn't have the best experience with the fans last time but this time we met some really sweet girls.
  2. Talking of the gig I bought a new camera the day before it is a Canon and is awesome! I managed to take some awesome photos and videos. You can take a look at the videos on my Youtube channel, I'll be attending more gigs soon so keep updated.
  3. A few days later I went up to York to visit my friend Hannah, she's moving back to London soon but I wanted to have some time with her whilst she was still up North. It was great to visit the city; we drank alcohol, explored York and ate far too much.
  4. When I was travelling back I somehow managed to book my coach ticket for the day before but the coach driver was so nice and let me use the coach anyway! So kind of him!
  5. I also dyed my hair purple, it was more of a bland violet really! It had more of an effect then any other hair dye but made my hair so dry :(
  6. I went to go and see The Grand Budapest Hotel with my dad and sister and we all loved it! It's a pretty quirky movie but it is so clever and funny and I recommend it to everyone!
  7. I saw Mitch for a few days too, he came down and we hung out which was cool.
  8. I had a slight drama as my laptop charger decided to die at one point! I had to order another one, I literally didn't have my laptop for 2 days and I was so lost. That is shocking I know.
  9. Back to work after my week off and it has been so hectic because of SALE. I worked past 11pm on SALE launch night, it was so long. We will be having a student event coming up soon so if you're student be sure to check out River Island in the next few weeks for discount :D

I'm excited for April but I don't have any gigs planned which makes me sad :( It is my dads 60th party though :)
