Life: February 2014 Loves

Still loving the pastels this month, blue in particular apparently!

  1. New Look Striped Jumper, £17.99, ASOS also have some really nice pastel knitwear at the moment but I thought I'd pick this one from New Look to change things up a bit.
  2. ASOS Orange Heels, £45, I love the simple sandals in style at the moment and I feel like orange is a really good colour to transition from Autumn/Winter to Spring/Summer
  3. Topshop Jacket, £58, I adore these style jackets, they seem so cosy, I may have to purchase one soon
  4. Dune Metallic Handbag, £14 (£58) I can honestly not believe the reduction with this bag! I actually adore it, I'm a little gutted I can't afford it still as it would go perfect with my outfit for this weekend. Oh well.
  5. Topshop Shorts, £10, I love running shorts, sometimes just for lazing around the house and these acid wash one are my fav so far
  6. Claire's Accessories Earring Pack, £8, I can't seem to find little hoops anywhere but this sat from Claires offers colour hoops and studs- and so cheap!
  7. Boohoo Eagle Necklace, £6, I have a wings style necklace already but this eagle one from Boohoo is too cool to ignore
  8. Accessorize Statement Earrings, £12, These would also be perfect for the weekend, I feel like I should wear statement earrings more, they are so many stunning one out there
  9. POP Nail Polish in Pink, £6.50, I love a pastel pink nail polish and my Fairycake by 17 one has gone a bit gloopy so thought I could try this one out instead
  10. Katy Perry Eylure Lashes in Punk Princess, £5.95, The Katy Perry lashes never fail to let me down and I cannot WAIT to try these ones as I love when lashes fan out at the ends
So what have YOU been craving this month? Think you'll be able to afford anything?!

Music: Taylor Swift Gig Review

Who: Taylor Swift
Where: O2 Arena, London
When: 11th February 2014

Best Songs: All Too Well, I Knew You Were Trouble, Love Story
£52.50
*****

Taylor Swift provided a wonderfully versatile show as she performed the latest hits from her RED album and even offered some Taylor classics for her Swifties out there.

Since the release of her first album back in 2006 Taylor Swift has gone on to achieve world-wide recognition. Swifts 4th album RED went straight to number one in over ten countries and after a wildly successful year, the 24 year old American toured the world with hits from said-album. The Vamps were her opening act; four Brit boys with instruments- not unlike McFly or 5 Seconds of Summer, so obviously I was a fan. They are all strong musicians with decent lyrics and catchy tunes- it must also be said that the lead singer has a rather Harry Styles air about him.
Taylor started with State of Grace, a random choice I feel, I thought she may have gone for 22 or even Red but nonetheless it was an astounding vocal performance and got the crowd on their feet.
The thing with Taylor Swift is, not only can she write one hell of a song and has a beautiful voice which translates fabulously on stage but she simply adores her fans and this is reflected in her live shows. A little chat here and there as she makes each and every person in the crowd feel as though they are talking to their best friend. Songs such as Mean and Long Live make your realize just how normal this girl truly is- it just so happens that she is wildly talented.
There were no 'stand out' vocal performances as she hits every high and low note without fail but it is fair to say We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and I Knew You Were Trouble involved some seriously long notes where she never went off key. These two also involved the most movement and a wonderful show of lights, colour and stage presence.
Visually it was fun and exciting; a beautiful ballet duo and wild violinist took to the stage during wardrobe changes and the backdop varied from old Hollywood glamour for The Lucky One to a romantic, fairy-tale like set for Love Story (where she appeared from a toy-box might I add...)
Her surprise guest was Ellie Goulding and in all honesty I'm not thay much of a fan but everybody loved it and the two singers bounced off each other well as they performed Ellie's hit single Burn.
For me there is no denying the hypnosis of Taylor Swift and All Too Well was the most emotional and heart-felt performance I have seen from a performer in some time.

As playful and fun as it is emotional and sincere, Taylor Swift offers a stellar performance whether she is jumping around with dancers or sat alone with just a piano. Never failing to make her fans proud, this is one concert you most certainly do not want to miss.

Life: January 2014 Monthly Round Up

So long January...

  1. So work in 2014 was most certainly a change! Within the first week of January I had a job interview at another store and found out the week after that they wanted t o offer me the role of Product Manager of Menswear and Kidswear! I honestly could not believe it, I've only been working for the company for 5 months!
  2. I took the role :) I wasn't sure because I quite simply love everybody that I work with, the shop is easy for me to get to and I am pretty content but I know that I have to move on up at some point. I trained for three weeks and start at the new store next week!
  3. I was gutted to find out my friend Lauren was leaving work but on a plus they hired one of the temps called Amelia who I get on really well with which is always good.
  4. I've been to visit my Auntie Sam in hospital a few times and I think me and my sisters will try and go once a week now, she has made some improvement but not much.
  5. I had three birthdays throughout January, my niece Lily, my sister Bryony and Mitch's mums.
  6. I traveled down to Devon for Mitch's mums birthday, we went out for a meal at a carvery which was delicious. We also played a few games such as Scene It! with the family and just generally spent some time together.
  7. For Bryzs birthday we went to a restaurant called La Fiamma in Hampton Court and I had a delicious risotto, was SO YUM. I made her Blondies and we also had a lemon cake made by The Jolly Baker, it was so divine and well-priced too! I had a few cocktails but was working the next day! Rubbish.
  8. Talking of birthdays my dad has chosen a theme for his 60th and also set a date. 12th April and 'Song Titles' best get thinking hadn't I?!
  9. I have to work weekends now which is a little annoying so I have the odd day off during the week to catch up on blogging, writing and all the TV shows I watch (32 to be exact)
  10. Myself and Maisy are thinking of jetting off on holiday at some point which will be cool I haven't been abroad in years! Like eight years!
  11. Film wise I watched Wolf of Wall Street and Frozen. Both, obviously, very different but amazing nonetheless, I can honestly say I enjoyed them equal amounts! Leonardo DiCaprio never fails to offer a stellar performance and Frozen has a rather hilarious Snowman in it....
  12. This month I struggled to find music for my playlist then BAM! Loads of new musicians followed me on Twitter or appeared out of nowhere, check out my playlist here

It has just hit February now and I am so unbelievably poor and I have just discovered how much it'll cost me to travel, much more than anticipated!
Anyway February looks to be a busy month! How is your 2014 going?

Life: Liebster Award

I hadn't seen that this was making the rounds but now that's it come my way I'm keeping my eyes peeled for other people answering the questions it's such a fabulous idea! I was tagged by the superb Hannah from Two for Joy check out her blog, that girl got style. You answer 10 questions from whoever tagged you then tag 5 other bloggers and ask them 10 questions! So much fun :D

My 10 from Hannah were:

1. Who inspires you most in the blogging community and why?

Everybody inspires me. We are all so different and I love it, if three people review the same product or all wear the same dress they offer different insight or style it in a completely original way.

2. Who is your celebrity style icon?
I have two parts of my style one is rather glam and feminine whereas the other is a little grungier and casual, I tend to be relaxed during the day then go all out for a party or a night out. I love how made up people can be always but I just can't pull it off, I attempted to at one stage but I never look quite polished enough, clearly I am far too messy!
I would have to go with Demi Lovato and Kim/Khloé Kardashian.

3. What's your favourite perfume? Describe it.

Ooooh I have so many that I love. Top 3 I'll go with; Princess by Vera Wang, Cinéma by Yves Saint Laurent and Paris Hilton by Paris Hilton. The first two are definitely sweet, Princess smells rather like sweets and Cinéma is rather vanilla based, Paris has bit more of a citrus kick.

4. If you could only wear one item of makeup each day, what would it be and why?
I am truly torn here between foundation and eyebrow pencil, I know a lot of people would pick mascara but honestly you should see me without my eyebrows filled in, it's not even worth thinking about... so eyebrow filler.

5. What's your favourite TV show?

Friends. I avidly watch about 30 TV shows- I know right I'm obsessed- and there are shows I love (Sex and the City, Once Upon A Time, The O.C, Spartacus) but, I mean, it's FRIENDS, right?! F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

6. Favourite meal?
Pizza. Anytime anywhere (Followed by hot cookies and milk, I'm such a kid I know...)

7. Share your favourite quote?

I have a few, I apologize, I am extremely indecisive and can never pick just one for anything!

"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it’s going to launch you into something great."

"Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."

"Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength."

They ring true to me and I find that they are all relevant at some point throughout life.

8. A designer handbag you're lusting over?

Ah, so many out there! I have always wanted a white Chanel classic flap bag with silver detailing but recently I have had my eye on the Charlotte Olympia Pandora box clutch- in any style but the one below is me down to a T.

9. What's your biggest pet peeve?
Hmmm, this is a tricky one. People who interrupt annoy me or people who talk over you as if what they have to say is more important? That is never OK. I also cannot stand people who mock you for your taste in music, you have no idea how much that band or musician means to that person. On that note, when you are judged on your music taste, like, what? I like One Direction so obviously I hate any type of rock/dance/metal/rap musicians. So stupid.

10. Where's your favourite place to shop and why?

It depends what I'm shopping for but Miss Selfridge clothes tend to fit me nicely, their dresses in particular. I love Topshop and River Island for jeans/bottoms though and La Senza for underwear. Also River Island shoes and handbags are always perfection!

Questions for more nominees are:

  1. Who is your ultimate celebrity crush (Opposite and same sex)?
  2. If you go to any gig/concert who would it be, and why? The band do not have to still be together FYI
  3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
  4. What is one talent you wish you had?
  5. Who do you think is the best dressed celebrity couple (past or present)?
  6. If you could travel to anywhere in the world where would it be?
  7. What is your favourite magazine? Are you subscribed to any?
  8. What character from TV/Film/Book do you wish you could be friends with?
  9. Who is your favourite fashion designer?
  10. What do you enjoy writing about the most, blogging wise?
My questions go to:
  1. Aoife from Native-Feathers
  2. and Nóirín from Native-Feathers (I'd love to hear from both)
  3. Katie from Realise Beauty
  4. Renee from It's Renee Allen
  5. Hannah from Two for Joy
This took me a while to put together and most of the blogging community has done at least one by this point! Whoops...
I probably shouldn't tag the person who tagged me by hey! Never mind....Don't forget to let me know once you're done :D
